BUSINESS SUMMARY
Founded in December 2020, the company released the small-scale land-based aquaculture system "ARK-V1" in March 2023, with the first unit installed at the North Gate of the University of the Ryukyus. In September 2023, the company launched "REF-V1," a denitrification system compatible with ARK-V1. In August 2024, aiming to realize "land-based aquaculture for anyone, anywhere," the company unveiled "ARK-ZERO," featuring IoT-powered automation and high-insulation, energy-efficient tanks.
THOUGHTS ON FOUNDING
I love the ocean and have been free diving for nearly 20 years, collecting and keeping seasonal migratory fish (tropical fish that ride the Kuroshio Current from places like Okinawa). About ten years ago, I started to become aware of issues like rocky shore denudation and changes in sea temperature. During my time as a salaryman, I was involved in several IoT projects related to land-based aquaculture as an extension of my hobby. I realized that what is needed for the widespread adoption of land-based aquaculture is not IoT, but rather inexpensive, high-performance small-scale tank equipment. However, after searching the world for small-scale land-based aquaculture equipment and finding none, I decided to start a company with Takenoshita and Kurihara, who were also involved in land-based aquaculture systems at my previous job, under the spirit of "if it doesn't exist, we'll make it ourselves."
Born in Hiratsuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture. After working in tough, labor-intensive jobs while studying, I became involved in IoT systems at startups and major companies, where I encountered land-based aquaculture and founded ARK Corporation.
