Turn Okinawa into the world’s leading sustainable resort

BUSINESS SUMMARY

My company, L&V OKINAWA LLC, operates the new resort wear brand "SOUTHERLY" and handles the upcycling uniform/amenity OEM business, aiming to upcycle about 200 tons of linens discarded annually by resort hotels in Okinawa Prefecture. The company is working towards its goal of making Okinawa the world's number one sustainable resort by reducing waste and revitalizing the manufacturing industry.

THOUGHTS ON FOUNDING

Due to financial circumstances at home, I had to give up on attending the university of my choice. From this frustration, I harbored the aspiration to "become a hero who would save Okinawa one day." After advancing to the University of the Ryukyus, I gained experience through internships in sustainable brands and apparel OEMs, leading to the current initiation of a "linen upcycling business." At the age of 20, what I could do was to tirelessly use my feet to meet and consult with many people. Finally, I visited a startup support center to receive advice. I think I will never forget the excitement of creating something entirely new that did not exist in the world at that time. I will continue to work for my birthplace, Okinawa. toward the objective of creating the world's best sustainable resort!
